World Environment Day Tiffin at Aaspriha Bhavan
In the spirit of World Environment Day, students at Voice of World Inclusive Education Centre Aaspriha Bhavan were treated to a warm and loving tiffin celebration. Staff lovingly prepared payesh (sweet rice pudding), and fruits — bananas and fresh jamuns — were shared among all the children. The simple joy of sitting together and sharing food was a beautiful moment of togetherness at the centre.
Environmental Art Activity at the Centre
Students at Aaspriha Bhavan engaged in an environmental drawing and painting activity to mark World Environment Day. Seated on mats on the classroom floor, the children drew nature-themed artwork on colourful paper — a creative and joyful way to learn about caring for the earth around them.
Specially-Abled Students March for World Environment Day
On World Environment Day (June 5), Voice of World's specially-abled students took to the streets at Bagat Mukherjee Park in a spirited environmental awareness march, co-organised with Sangbedan. Dressed in imaginative costumes representing trees and nature, students carried banners calling for environmental justice and demanding that the Bengal government strengthen conservation efforts. The march included a formal appeal to Hon'ble Chief Minister Shri Shubhendu Adhikari to intensify measures to protect the state's natural resources and ecological balance. Teachers and well-wishers marched alongside the students, making this a proud moment for the Voice of World family.
"সবুজের আবাহনে প্রাণের উৎসব" — Sali Ghata Branch
The Sali Ghata branch of Voice of World came alive on June 5 with a grand cultural celebration — Sabujer Aabahane Praner Utsab (Life Festival in Celebration of Green). Honoured guests, well-wishers, and members of the broader Voice of World family gathered for a heart-warming afternoon of music, poetry, and performance. Students — many in vibrant, colourful traditional costumes — performed with joy, accompanied by tabla rhythms that filled the hall with warmth. Songs and poems were rendered with poise and feeling. Tree saplings were also planted at the premises, symbolising the centre's deep commitment to caring for nature. The occasion, marked by the affectionate participation of students and the presence of esteemed visitors, became a beautiful celebration of community, creativity, and the environment.
Voice of World in the News — Three Newspapers Cover Environmental March
The environmental awareness activities of Voice of World's specially-abled students were recognised and celebrated by the press. Multiple newspapers — including Bartaman, Ei Muhurte, and The Morning In — published reports and photographs of the students' participation at Bagat Mukherjee Park. Ei Muhurte ran a prominent feature titled "পরিবেশ দিবসের সচেতনতায় পথে 'গাছেরা'" (Trees on the road for Environment Day Awareness), while The Morning In captioned: "Specially-abled students took part in an environmental awareness programme at Bagat Mukherjee Park, advocating for stronger environmental conservation measures." We are grateful to all the media for shining a light on the capabilities and voices of our students.
Saplings Planted at Aaspriha Bhavan Campus
As part of the World Environment Day observance, students and staff at Aaspriha Bhavan planted tree saplings in the campus garden. Photos shared in the group captured the tender moment of young hands pressing saplings into the earth — a symbol of hope, growth, and care for the world they will inherit. The new plantings join an already green corner of the campus, nurtured with love by the Voice of World family.
